SEPTEMBER 17. 2003
Audio Karate is a punk alternative band out of Southern California. The current album out is called Space Camp. Let's find out what is up with these guys.
SPACE CAMP was you title for your CD. If you could help space what
would you want taught in a class at Space Camp for everyone to learn? and why? Or is Space all ready perfect in your eyes and why?
Audio Karate: Space Camp was our CD title. I never took a Space class,I likely should have though, space is space and has everything space needs to be the best space it can be.
Who are you in the band? and what is the most embarasement thing that
has happened to you being in the band?
Audio Karate: I am the lead guitarist and the most embarrassing thing to have happened to me happens everynight when I look like a goof in the band. Im the bands "mother and father"
Audio Karate: What person in music history that plays the same instrument that you do would you like to talk to and what would be
your most important question if you only had one to ask?
Audio Karate: I play a 6 string Guitar, id want to meet Randy Rhoads and id ask him to teach me to shred like him.
Rosemead is i southern Calofornia. What is so outstanding in Rosemead
to make you want to make a song about it?
Audio Karate: Its our hometown and explains a lot about why we are the way we are. We play music that sounds like 4 middle class Mexicans that started a band in a Rosemead garage. Rosemead is just Rosemead, having been around the world, there is no other place like it.
Anyone do any video's for your songs yet and if so which songs?
Audio Karate: Yeah Joe from Vandals directed the video for Nintendo 89 which seen some MTV airplay over in the UK. Its got sexy girls in it and can be seen at our website www.audiokarate.com
Senior Year is one of your songs. What was the most humilliating thing
that happened to you in your serior year at highschool?
Audio Karate: I didn't pass Spanish class, it was remedial Spanish to boot.
Drama Club Romance is another of your songs. So who in drama class did
you like and what happened to make the relationship break up? If this
music things dries up would you try acting then for a living instead of music?
Audio Karate: Naw, cant act, none of us were in drama class either. The song is just comparing a relationship to a big act or production or something like that.
CAR RIDE HOME is a song on Space Camp. What was your worst ride home
like? When was it? Get personal with it, gross if you like too...well?
Audio Karate: Worst car ride home was when we still had our 1980 Dodge Van, it was overheating and we had to drive home doing 35 mph from Phoenix to Rosemead (6 hour drive) with no A/C in the middle of the summer.
Can or has your band ever played a show acoustic?
Audio Karate: Yes we can, we played an acoustic instore at Tower in Tokyo, Japan. It sounded really good because we are really good at playing our really good songs. We're real as the rappers say.
Is a new album in the works?
Audio Karate: Yes it is. We have written our new record and will record it in October/November. It will be out in February 2004 on Kung Fu Records and it is going to be very very good.
Monster In Disquise is a great title. What was your worst outfit for
Holloween? Did you ever dress for Holloween in drag or would you?
Audio Karate: Thanks. Worst outfit was a hobo, with coffee grounds on my face and everything. I've never dressed in drag, I dont think I would because my butt is too big for womens clothing.
Audio Karate is currently signed to Kung Fu Records and their debut album is Space Camp. Thanks to Audio Karate and Saundra at Kung Fu Records for making this inter happen. This interview was conducted via email because the band is currently going on tour right now.
